Thank you for your interest in the 2012 CCNMA San Diego Multicultural Journalism Workshop hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University. Please take the time to read this page in full since it has important information about the application process.

Who should apply?

Applicants must be current high school students in San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and San Bernadino counties. Seniors and juniors are given preference for a limited number of spots, but we will consider outstanding sophomores.

You will need to complete and send in all of the following items to be considered:

  • Application form.
  • Copy of your latest grade transcript(s).
  • Writing sample: This can be from a school publication, a writing assignment from class or another piece you feel best showcases your writing ability.
  • Personal statement: Write a 100- to 150-word essay describing what experiences, skills and knowledge would make you a good fit for the workshop.
  • Recommendation letter: Get this from a teacher, counselor or employer. Please do not ask relatives to write this for you. This may be sent digitally from your recommender’s professional email address.

Deadline: Sunday April 15

When submitting this form electronically, please save the files with your last name in the title (e.g. ApplicationJONES.pdf).

The program is organized by the California Chicano News Media Association, hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University and supported by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund and media companies. We work closely with other journalism organizations such as the Asian American Journalists Association, the San Diego Association of Black Journalists and the Society of Professional Journalists
